I was a proper mumbai boy who decided to come to shivamogga in the winters of 2022. It was a fair choice as Psychiatry was the only thing that I wanted to pursue. I entered shimoga with a very bitter sweet feeling. I had never left mumbai but now i was in shimoga for the next 3 years finding my way in an alien place. Now when i look back this was undoubtedly the best decision I’ve taken in life. Manasa is home for me. Everything i know about psychiatry i owe it to this place. This place is the most “non-toxic” place i have been in and especially for a resident that’s music to the ears. I think such an environment was only possible because of preethi ma’am, our HOD. Shes the epitome of calmness and with her being at tye zenith everyone else basks in her light freely. I have never seen anyone as approachable as her and that instilled a lot of confidence in us to learn and work. Inspite of being the first batch Shilpa and i were able to do a decent job and give a 100% results and its all because of our professors. Naveen sir will always be my father figure and mentor in that place. But each and everyone including Karthik sir, praveen sir, sharath sir, abhishek sir, aftab sir, Thanu ma’am, wajid sir have played a vital role in shaping me as a good human and a good psychiatrist. The psychology department also deserves a special thanks to have helped me in my holistic approach. It has been a pleasure being at manasa and i will always be indebted for everything it has given me. Thank you
